PSHE/RSE
At Widden Primary School, we have children from all over the world with different experiences and backgrounds, therefore PSHE is at the core of what we do and and we aim to deliver a highly contextual and relevant curriculum specific to our children and community. We enable our children to become independent, confident, healthy and responsible members of our school and community through our PSHE learning and develop our children intellectually, morally, socially and spiritually; it is our belief that the skills, personal attributes and knowledge they will gain in these areas will lead to excellence across the curriculum and beyond in later life.
PSHE is taught across the school from Reception to Year 6 on a weekly basis and our assemblies are linked with themes and concepts special to us and our unique community. Our PSHE curriculum equips children with relevant and meaningful content, which is supported through a strong emphasis on building resilience and nurturing mental and physical health. With an ever changing community and society, we are able to provide our children with a strong understanding of the diverse world around them and support them in playing a positive role in contributing to the school, community and the wider society. Our ultimate goal for PSHE at Widden, is to ensure children become well-rounded members of society that are accepting, caring, healthy and safe.
Weaving through the heart of our PSHE teaching, is a commitment to enhancing and promoting our core values of Ready, Respectful and Safe and the British Values.
